Dr. de Torres received his undergraduate degree in Chemistry/Biochemistry from Rutgers University. After working in research and development in the pharmaceutical industry, he earned is MD degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. He completed internship training in general surgery at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland before serving honorably for three years as a Medical Officer with the Atlantic Fleet in the U.S. Navy. Following military service, he completed residency training in surgery and urology at The University of North Carolina. Working in urology practice since 1996, he has active interests in the areas of minimally-invasive surgery, oncology, stone disease, voiding dysfunction, infertility, and prostate diseases.
Dr. de Torres is certified by the American Board of Urology and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He is an active member of several professional medical organizations and holds various leadership positions in the local medical community. Dr. de Torres was voted a NY Magazine Top Doctor in 2014.
